In 1975 they were drilling for oil in Bad Waltersdorf when they made another discovery: hot, healing springs. The region accepted this gift of nature and has been making the positive effects of the thermal water available to everyone since. Eastern Styria caters for all ages with its two spas that could not be more different! From family fun on the slides at the H2O Health Resort to relaxing hours at Heiltherme Bad Waltersdorf, this warm source of energy and magic awaits.
1.9 million litres of thermal water flow into Bad Waltersdorf every day from one of Austria’s richest springs. The Bad Waltersdorf thermal water strengthens the immune system, detoxifies, stabilises the back, alleviates stress, relaxes and is officially recognised as healing water. The energy of this natural elixir of life is as palpable in the thermal pools as in the Kneipp facilities or along the massage section. A source of strength can only unfold where enough space is given. That is why Heiltherme Bad Waltersdorf stretches across 14 ha – 14 hectares for 14 pools filled with pure thermal water.
Inside Heiltherme Bad Waltersdorf you will find three pools, a cold water walk-through pool and various relaxation areas with enough room to have a chat. Outside you can get active in the exercise pool with its massage jets and water mushroom or relax on the jacuzzi beds in the massage pool, along the massage section, under the waterfall shower or on the ground jets. The 16 m long thermal swimming pool allows you to do your lanes without interruption and the entire body get a workout in the 25 m long thermal sports pool, where you can also make use of the attached Aqua Fit bay, counter-current system and underwater exercise bike. Round off your visit by enjoying the relaxing underwater music and strengthening your defences in the Kneipp facilities. All thermal pools - with the exception of the sports and swimming pool - have massage jets and a water temperature of around 36°C. You don’t have to go hungry here either, of course, with a choice of places to refuel.
Soothing warmth. Heiltherme guests are invited to use a large sauna area with a total of nine saunas (Styrian sauna, brine steam bath, Finnish sauna, bio-sauna, infrared cabins, tepidarium and herbal steam bath). In addition, there are several complimentary special infusions in the Finnish sauna throughout the day.
High-quality individualised treatments are offered at the TSM® Treatment Centre, from classic massages and beauty treatments to therapy sessions. The TSM® treatments are a real highlight, in which traditional knowledge is combined with modern findings to create Traditional Styrian Medicine. Product ingredients are sourced from the Garden of Austria, and apples, pumpkin seed oil, herbs, peat extracts, talc and hay flowers are some of the most important components. The sophisticated and therapeutically extremely valuable TSM® oils are produced by the Heiltherme Bad Waltersdorf therapists themselves.
The Heiltherme does not just spoil you for choice when it comes to relaxation; it is also the spa with the most amount of space per guest. Natural materials, charming oases of calm and views of the Eastern Styrian landscape make the Heiltherme that was completely redesigned in 2015 the ideal place to escape the everyday.
At the H2O Health Resort you can expect colourful fun amidst a warm feel-good atmosphere across a 30,000 m² water and adventure surface. From day trips to short breaks, alone, as a couple or with the family – the H2O Health Resort promises a great time in the water and on the slides in all weathers. The children’s spa has an extensive programme for young and old. Boredom is a word the animation team and their young guests don’t know. Fun, games and entertainment are always on the agenda. From mixing cocktails to mini discos and mermaid swimming sessions, new ideas ensure there is plenty of action every week.
Guests can enjoy a total of nine thermal pools at the H2O Health Resort. There is plenty to be discovered with countless opportunities to swim, paddle, slide and enjoy the delightfully warm water. Waves sweep through the wave pool, which also has an Acapulco beach, on the hour. Allow yourself to drift in the circular current of the lazy river and reward yourself with a water massage in the attached whirlpool. From the "Sternenpool" (star pool) you can see the entire spa, and tiny tots will love the Hopi Ho water play area and clown and baby pools. Outside you can relax on the sun loungers by the adventure pool or do your laps in the sports pool.
Three slides ensure that everyone has a great time. Families can race each other down the double-tube slide and the Blackhole Speedy offers maximum thrills. Little ones can slide into their parents’ arms in the Hopi Ho water play area. In between you can grab a bite to eat at the pool bar and enjoy one or the other cocktail in the bubbling water.
Those looking for relaxation will find a fantastic sauna world with soothing infusions and a generous massage menu for young and old. There are seven different saunas in total, split between an indoor and an outdoor area, which guests over 15 years of age are welcome to use. A corridor leads straight from the children’s spa into the H2O Arena and its extended relaxation area.
Easy to reach and with a generous car park right in front of the resort, start your family holiday in the most relaxed way.
