Nature and cuisine along Eastern Styria’s Apple Road

Eastern Styria’s Apple Road winds its way across 25 km through the Apple Land "Lake Stubenberg" region. Between Gleisdorf, Weiz and Hartberg there are countless viewpoints, natural and cultural monuments and millions of apple trees. Whether by car, on foot or by bike – the apple takes centre stage, be it in liquid or solid form, raw or as juices, cider, schnapps and delicious apple dishes. You can even enjoy entire apple menus – from cream of cider soup to apple dumplings – at the restaurants along the way.

Places to stop along Eastern Styria’s Apple Road

Kirchenwirt Hofer, the family hotel at the heart of apple village Puch, offers a culinary round trip throughout the year that is all about the apple. Asparagus, fish and game can also be enjoyed when in season, plus a shady garden and large event hall known as the "Hofer Stadl".

Wirtshaus Meissl in Puch introduces its guests to the culinary world of the local apple and quality Apple Road products. The apples can also be savoured in liquid form, of course, from various juices and cider types to apple schnapps. The establishment has been distinguished by the "Kuratorium Kulinarisches Erbe" (advisory board for Austria’s culinary heritage).

Der Luis at the Posthotel Thaller in Anger is a 2-toque restaurant. Under the motto "gschmackig und echt" (tasty and real), Luis Thaller spoils his guests with multi-course menus. Sweet treats can be found at the in-house confectionary.
